Trouble Shooting - WEB BROWSER - by Kalc Foo

Trouble Shooting - Visual Guide by Abomination

Trouble Shooting - STANDALONE PLAYER
  • Standalone player first and most probable pop-up would be "Adobe Flash Player Security" when you try to download the map data. If this happens, click on the "Settings..." instead of "OK".
  • A web browser window should automatically open to Flash global security setting when you click "Settings..." button.
  • Look for and click on "Edit location..." drop down box then "Add Location". If you want to only allow the map program, just click confirm. keep in mind you'll have to redo this step every update.
  • It is recommended that you move the program into a folder (make one yourself) and in the Global Security Setting, use browse folder and find the folder where you move the program to and all flash files within that folder will be trusted and allowed to download without further interuption.

if there is a pop-up regarding to storage, just say yes so you don't have to download the file again every time you use the map. you only need to download again if you feel like updating the map data.

X from -256 to 255
Y from -255 to 256

Not sure why those particular coordinates, but that's what shows on the map.

huh. well if they are going for 512x512 i can imagine that you need 0,0 coordinate so one side has to be one short of the other. but i dont get why it's X -256 and Y -255. why not make em equal? ah well, i got what i need. thx.

the world map won't load data from mechhero.com/MapExport.html

i think it's settings problem but if so, many people will hit that problem.
does anyone know of a better location to upload this swf file to?

can't find a way so here's the work around.

[link removed - obsolete version]

this version save a data to local shared object so if there's a pop up asking if you want to save, you should say ok/yes.

p.s. this map doesn't do anything except showing you how wide mechhero world really is. and it draws a pretty picture of it while it loads. you can zoom and drag mouse but that's pretty much it. next version should have better usage.

love to. but can't.

it's only limited to the data shown in mapexport.html and it doesn't have points in it to base on.

[link removed - obsolete version]

update:
 - sector division
 - added right-click menu for search function (by name and coordinate)
 - focus zoom to center of view
 - click (or search) a city to see info and another for distance
 - added sector into city info
 - map is now NOT "throw"-able (really buggy)

still can't access mechhero.com/MapExport.html

edit: ....bug found. single quote on text. will fix in next update. due to that, please add single quote (') in front and behind the city name you are searching. ex. Bakazium -> 'Bakazium'

edit2: bug fixed. there shouldn't be any weird quotes now after remapping the data with v1.1b

Is this thing still working?
I tried to use it and I get a message saying "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?"
If I say no the message comes back after some seconds, and so on...

try accessing mechhero.com/mapexport.html. if it gives an error then it's probably that. if it loads just fine then redo it and if it ask to abort script, say no. just let it run and it'd show you the map eventually when the program finish reading all the data, which is a lot. the error is just flash's timeout for a loop process.

if i have the irk to update this then i ll fix it in the next version so it doesn't happen, but then it will take even longer time to process. one of the drawbacks of flash i suppose.
