Whats a good Newbie set up?
« on: February 23, 2011, 01:10:15 AM »

whats the most effective set up someone can think of for a Raptor?

I just think that for a newbie this would be some very good information to have.

As a newb, it depends more on what you have on hand since (unless you're in a good clan like mine) you don't have very many options. You'll want some front line brawlers, snipers, transporters, etc.

Well, so far the best setup I've found for the Raptor is

2 light lasers
2 light transport platforms

They aren't going to win battles against bigger better mechs, but what more can you really do with them?

Against anything but other raptors, raptors are useless in groups of less than 25. I use the clan system of military organization from Battletech. A "Star" is 5 mechs or 25 Raptors. I treat them as Armored infantry. lol

I'm a big proponent of Raptors, where others think Raptors are solely for suicide. taking on 9-14k NPCs, as of this second, I have yet to lose a raptor to them.

If you have the res, search for some stuff on the market, just to get your started. If its a farmer against defensless inactives, simply transport platforms.

You can also use 2x LRRs or a Single Mortar for ballistics, or 2x Precise laser rifles if you prefer energy

I actually done use those nowadays, but I did, and they were effective. I just have them template and sometimes armed like until they get sent out for purposes of misleading scans.
